Expostulation(s) of Mary
Expostulation(s) of Mary is a chamber opera for voice, strings, electronics, and dancer based on an original concept by Heather Jones and using original compositions and new arrangements by Eliza Bagg and Ben Babbitt. It combines and expands Purcellβs The Blessed Virginβs Expostulation and other baroque sacred music, exploring and exposing themes of gender, sexuality, and bodily autonomy in sacred texts about the Virgin Mary.
